The most distinctive feature that makes the Kekova coastline unique; archaeological remains submerged, with sea level constantly rising since ancient times.
Together with Myra, Kekova Region was one of the important settlements in Lycian history. On the Kekova Island, the wrecks of Dolkisthe Ancient City, which is located right across Kaleköy and disappeared by earthquakes in the 2nd part of the island, can be seen in the northern part of the island. This place is called Kekova Batıkşehir.
There is no settlement on Kekova Island. The only settlements in the region are Kaleköy and Üçağız villages, located directly across Kekova Island.
Kaleköy (Simena) is located right across Kekova Island. It has become the symbol of the region with its typical Byzantine castle, temple ruins inside the castle, rock tombs, the smallest theater of the Lycian region carved into the rocks and numerous Lycian sarcophagi.
